I remember a time where MySpace was the best thing out there when it came to social networking. I believe I can speak for many people that Facebook has destroyed the popularity of MySpace. So how did this happen? Well I am going to break down to the best of my ability the demise of MySpace.
1.) Security
MySpace became so popular that it wasn’t able to keep up with its security settings. Imagine that MySpace’s security was very similar to the legendary days of Studio 54. Yeah there was security but its popularity for sex, drugs, and disco pushed security to the back burner. MySpace had so many viruses running through it than a two dollar whore!
2.) Layout
The one positive thing about MySpace was the ability to customize your profile. But the layout was pretty basic in nature. Plus when you give people the ability to manipulate html it just opens the door for so many problems. The other thing about the layout is how your cluttered your profile could end up looking.
3.) Features
For the longest time, MySpace lacked some cool features. I think they saw the rise and popularity of Facebook and decided that it was time to add some features as well. However at that point it was too late. Features like applications, chat, and more. I also enjoy the plethora of available settings that allow you to customize your account.
I have enjoyed the time spent with MySpace. We have made some great memories. But I think it is time to officially say goodbye to my MySpace account. But I would like to hear your thoughts about Myspace vs. Facebook. How many people out there still even use MySpace?
